Miss Kitty and Charlie

They are together again. I'll miss her, but I am glad to know that she is with Charlie now...

She was my first baby. She was (at least) 22 years old. She moved with me 7 times to 3 states. She put up with numerous dogs, cats, kids, ex's. She and Charlie fell in love when they met which made me love them both a little bit more.

She was with me longer than anyone in my life. Half of my 42 years, in fact. She knew every secret. She slept on my head for years, squawked at me when she wanted something, bossed around her 100+ pound brothers, drank out of a water glass on the table (hers), had the softest kitty-rabbit hair ever and loved me unconditionally just like a cat is NOT supposed to do. She was my best friend no matter how silly it sounds.

a very special day

on july 29th, 1912, my grandmother was born.

she was an amazing woman. strong, patient, religious, generous, stern when she needed to be, but so funny, too. she and i joked a lot, i loved to get her laughing. "ah, yer kiddin," she'd say with a flip of her hand when i'd tease her. then she'd laugh from the tips of her toes.

it's been a year since she's been gone and i still miss her a lot. i hope she knows how special she was to me.

i just had a piece. don't be jealous - it wasn't that good. BUT it smelled like stollen - yum - and it made me miss my grandmother. she made stollen for the holidays. i wasn't a huge fan, but i miss it, miss the smell of her house when she made it. hers was the best, so i'm told.

this was my first easter without her. i miss her.
